'As we enter into this new phase of our lives, our priority will remain co-parenting our children with so much love, mutual respect and friendship. And though our relationship is changing, we are committed to continuing our lives as a loving family.'
In her filing, Shahi listed April 14 as their official date of separation, and cited 'irreconcilable differences' as the reason behind the split, according to Us Weekly.

Howey met Shahi when she was guest starring on an episode of Reba in 2004, and became engaged three years later during a trip to Hawaii.
Speaking of raising three children together, Howey told People in 2016: 'It is not easy, but all three are beautiful babies. We're a very close-knit family, just bigger.'
He also described how they managed to stay close in the midst of their busy parenting schedule.
'Sarah and I work really hard now to schedule workout time together. Or we'll run to the kitchen and do a tequila shot really fast — just do something together. Then it's right back into the playroom or changing a diaper.'

The couple, however, landed in headlines in 2016 after their nanny sued them for back wages, harassment and wrongful termination, claiming she was subjected to verbal abuse and sexual harassment during her time working for the family, according to TMZ.
Their nanny, Sarah Alaseri, claimed she was sexually harassed by Shahi, and alleged the actress joked she should get in shape so she could 'run off' with Howey.
Alaseri claimed Shahi detailed an affair she was having with an A-list movie actor and made her look at photos of the man's penis.
Alaseri, who is Muslim, also claimed Howey would chide and berate her when she practiced Islamic customs in his presence.
