The final episode of the hit NBC show The Office aired in 2013, but nearly 20 years later, it still has a cult following among fans.
One fan and inventor has delighted the internet this week by unveiling his take on the show's infamous 'Suck It' contraption—the brainchild of the character David Wallace in the 115th episode of the show.
Matty Benedetto shared the creation on Reddit on Wednesday with thousands of delighted fans. He posted the video of the stand-out invention with the caption: "I build fake inventions and today I created the LEGO Suck It!"
The video shows Benedetto using the custom vacuum to collect pieces of Lego from the floor. The pieces are then sorted into four different size sections and can be easily tipped out and cleaned up.
The invention takes inspiration from The Office, where character David Wallace invented a new product: a children's vacuum that sucks up toys and teaches kids to clean up their toys.
In the episode, the patent for the product is purchased by the U.S. military for $20 million. Alongside the invention, Wallace also wore merchandise with the Suck It brand, and even made up a song to promote the product, much to the unease of branch manager Michael Scott, beautifully played by Steve Carell.
Benedetto told Newsweek: "From first coming up with the idea to getting it live online, it was about four days. I try to put out one to three new inventions per week so it's usually a pretty quick turn around for each one."
The fun invention has impressed internet users, with over 61,000 upvotes and thousands of comments.
One Reddit user commented: "David Wallace would be proud," while another joked: "Military about to give you a call..."
Other Redditors were impressed with the invention, disagreeing that it was "unnecessary." One user wrote: "Dude this is actually a pretty good one. Good form, sir."
"I knew this one was probably going to resonate with people as we all know the pain of cleaning up LEGO bricks," said Benedetto. "It was really awesome to see people loving the final version of what I came up with."
Another parent shared their praise: "I know these builds go down as useless inventions, but this... this is amazing. As a Lego collector and a parent with two very enthusiastic Lego builders, this is a must. This really needs to be made. I really need one of these."
