Congratulations! Olympic skater Sasha Cohen married her fiancé, Tom May, in Osterville, Massachusetts, on Saturday, August 20.
"The last 48 hours has been a tremendous whirlwind for Tom and I," the silver medalist captioned an Instagram pic of the newlyweds on Sunday, August 21. "Thank you to all our family and friends far traveling from far and wide to join us on our wedding day. We will cherish the many memories we made with you this past weekend!
The skating champ, 31, who competed in the 2006 Olympics in Turin, Italy, announced her engagement to May, a hedge fund manager, in July 2015, sharing a pic that showed off her new diamond ring. "Engaged to the most incredible man," she captioned the photo. "I've never been so happy."
The couple tied the knot at the historic Wianno Club surrounded by family and friends in a romantic ceremony followed by a fun-filled reception.
"We wanted to do a barn upstate, but with rain the options weren't very good, and I could just imagine my grandma trying to go to the bathroom through the mud, so we ruled that out," she said in an interview on the TeamUSA website earlier this year of choosing to wed in Massachusetts. "[Tom's] family's from Boston and spends summers in Cape Cod, so there were some options close to where they live, and it seemed like a beautiful, good summer spot to have a wedding."
The bride's sister, Natasha, shared a video of the couple hoisted on chairs at the reception for a traditional Jewish hora dance. "Bringing sexy back to Wianno," she captioned the Instagram post.
Cohen quit skating to attend college in NYC and met her future fiancé after her move to the East Coast. She majored in political science and graduated in May.
