Every now and then, actors have to bare it all on-camera. In situations of this caliber, the star is tasked with being full-frontal before the film's director and several crew members, among others. Moments like these would likely prove to be memorable to the actor required to strip down with so many people watching, but Matthew McConaughey said he had no memory of getting naked in Serenity.

In an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Wednesday, host Stephen Colbert asked McConaughey about his nude scene in Serenity. While Colbert pointed out that the True Detective alum was "buck naked in this movie," McConaughey simply replied: "That's what I keep hearing!"

"I'm going to the premiere tonight, and I got to see if there's a new edit or a new cut of this film that I haven't seen," McConaughey, 49, explained. "I know I was topless, and I've had people coming up saying: 'Oh my God, it was great to see you full frontal.' And I'm like, 'What?'"

Before this comment, the pair had cracked open a bottle of bourbon. Colbert later responded to McConaughey's unusual predicament by asking the actor if the premiere would be the first time he'd learn whether or not the scene made the film's final cut. To this, McConaughey said: "Speaking of bourbons, it'll be the first time we know if I'm a Savage Cock or a Longbranch."

Colbert explained McConaughey's joke to the studio audience, adding: "Savage Cock is my bourbon, his is Longbranch."

McConaughey stars in Serenity, out Friday, with fellow Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway. Directed by Steven Knight, the twisty film follows fishing boat captain Baker Dill (McConaughey) as his ex-wife Karen (Hathaway) returns to seek his help by rescuing her and their son from her abusive spouse (Jason Clarke).

While McConaughey had to strip down to his birthday suit for Serenity, this isn't unfamiliar territory for the actor. In October 1999, McConaughey was arrested by the Austin Police Department over marijuana possession and for banging bongos while nude.

Kate Hudson, who has starred opposite McConaughey in Fool's Gold and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, said she once caught the actor howling naked in the woods during a weekend trip with friends in Canada.

"I found him standing on a rock, butt naked howling and gesturing," Hudson said when honoring McConaughey at the American Cinematheque Award in 2014, according to E! Online. "I was like, 'OK, there's Matthew McConaughey and he's fine. He's totally fine.' We can definitely say that Matthew is one with nature."
