Jennifer Lawrence shows sideboob at The Hunger Games: Mockingjay UK premiere

August 2024 · 11 minute read

She put on a dazzling display in a seriously low-cut dress at the world premiere in Berlin the previous evening.

And Jennifer Lawrence once again stole the show on the red carpet, this time swapping her extreme cleavage for a glimpse of sideboob as she made her grand arrival at The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 London premiere in Leicester Square on Thursday evening.

The 25-year-old actress went braless in the daring dress with large cut-out panels under the arms as she celebrated the release of the fourth and final film in the dystopian franchise alongside her A-list castmates.

Jennifer styled her newly-lightened blonde bob in a severe side parting and wore the front sections swept back from her face, highlighting her pretty features with rosy blush and a matte brick red lipstick to bring out the pattern off her dress.

But her handsome co-star Sam Claflin stole the attention away from Jennifer by walking the red carpet with his gorgeous wife Laura Haddock, who revealed her baby bump for the first time at the premiere.

The happy couple - who wed in 2013 - put on a loving display, cuddling and kissing for the cameras as they made their happy news public.

It was plain to see the love between Sam, who stars as handsome Hunger Games tribute Finnick Odair, and his actress wife Laura.

Also joining Jennifer was by her A-list co-star Julianne Moore, who took a fashion risk in a quirky tiered dress as she walked the red carpet.

The 54-year-old Oscar-winning actress, who plays Alma Coin in the franchise, looked sensational in the bridal chic number in its off-white colour and layered lace tiers, complete with high-necked ruffle detailing.

The knee-length dress was set off with a pair of chunky black peep-toe heels, making the most of her long legs and adding an edge to the otherwise ultra feminine look, wearing her auburn locks down loose and accessorising with silver drop earrings.

Also putting on a glamorous display on the red carpet was Elizabeth Banks, who turned heads in her unusual ensemble, a ballgown with a masculine twist.

Elizabeth's embroidered cream number might have looked like a classic gown from the side, but the skirt boasted a waist-high split at the front that revealed a pair of fitted black trousers.

The 41-year-old Pitch Perfect star looked totally unrecognisable from her flamboyant alter-ego Effie Trinket in the franchise, sporting natural make-up and a classic updo.

Also in attendance at the event were leading men Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson, who play Katniss' love interests in the franchise, and the duo put on a dapper display on the red carpet.

Despite being part of a love triangle in the film, the threesome have become incredibly close in real life, with Hemsworth describing Lawrence and Hutcherson as his 'best friends' earlier this week.

THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY, PART 2: WHAT THE CRITICS SAY

Variety

'While the series remarkably managed to sustain its cast and credibility across four increasingly ambitious features, (director) Francis Lawrence doesn’t quite recognize when it’s game over.'

The Guardian

'The pace, which had been so tightly controlled in the first two films, is a curious mess, starting off painfully slowly, then rushing when it really matters.'

The Independent

'With Mockingjay – Part 2, Hunger Games gets the finale it deserves. This, though, is a film whose bleakness may take some younger fans of the series by surprise.'

The Telegraph

'Jennifer Lawrence and Philip Seymour Hoffman - in his last film - end the Hunger Games series with an electrifying, high-stakes final showdown.'

Evening Standard

'Older viewers may find this at once the most grandiose and silly of all the Hunger Games – yet remotely worthwhile, for the brief appearances again of Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Woody Harrelson, even, perhaps through some special effects, the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, and above all for the distinction Jennifer Lawrence brings, so luminous, so lithe, every teenage girl's ideal. Others too, maybe.'

The third book in Suzanne Collins' best-selling dystopian triology has been split into two movies, with the first one released one year earlier.

Part One followed Katniss discovering District 13, which was previously thought to have been destroyed, and encouraging rebels to join her fight.

Part Two is set to be even more action-packed, with the Mockingjay and her band of followers returning to Panem’s Capitol with the intention of killing the President.

The bow-and-arrow wielding heroine must also come to terms with the brainwashing of Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) and make her choice between her kind-hearted ally and handsome childhood friend Gale Hawthorne(Liam Hemsworth).

Meanwhile, leading lady Jennifer recently confessed she was inspired to speak out on the gender pay gap in Hollywood because of her fierce character Katniss Everdeen.

'I don't see how I couldn't be inspired by this character, I mean I was so inspired by her when I read the books, it's the reason I wanted to play her,' Lawrence said at a press conference.

'So I think it would be impossible to go four years with this character and not be inspired by her,' she added.

She said the hardest aspect of playing Katniss was the fact that the character was a slow burn when it came to becoming a die-hard revolutionary.

'I wanted her to be a warrior right away, I wanted her to want to be a leader,' Lawrence said. 'I had to keep my own personal emotions about her situation out of my performance.'

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 will hit cinemas in the UK on November 19 and the US on November 20.

The globe-trotting promotional tour continues with trips to Paris, Madrid, Beijing and Los Angeles before ending in New York on November 18.
