Chicago P.D. was cocreated by Dick Wolf and Matt Olmstead and premiered on NBC in January 2014. It is the second installment of Wolf Entertainment’s Chicago franchise. The drama series centers around the personal and professional lives of employees in the Intelligence Unit of the Chicago Police Department.

Heading the Intelligence Unit is Sergeant Hank Voight (played by Jason Beghe), who is a stern but dedicated leader. The team is stationed at the fictional 21st District and tackles a variety of cases from street-level offenses to high-stakes criminal investigations.

Chicago P.D. stars Jesse Lee Soffer as Detective Jay Halstead, Tracy Spiridakos as Detective Hailey Upton, Patrick John Flueger as Officer Adam Ruzek, Marina Squerciati as Officer Kim Burgess and LaRoyce Hawkins as Officer Kevin Atwater.

Spiridakos left the series after season 11, six years after she made her debut as Hailey during the fourth season in 2017. With her departure, she became the second Halstead to leave Chicago P.D. after her onscreen husband, Soffer, said goodbye to the show in 2022 after 10 seasons.

Chicago P.D. plays a pivotal role in the Chicago franchise, frequently airing crossover episodes with Chicago Fire, Chicago Med and more.
